Make a stew
If slaving slovenly over the stove isn’t exactly your cup of tea, you needn’t worry; it’s still possible for your family to have the hearty dinner they deserve. Brown some beef or chicken thighs in a casserole, then add some stock, potatoes, tomatoes, green peas, onions, garlic, a bay leaf, and a small bunch of herbs (thyme and parsley are great options). Simmer gently over a low fire until the meat is tender and serve with sides of your choice.
