Fresh from Milan with King Living

Relaxed, homely, and inviting: core to King Living’s releases at Salone del Mobile 2018 were these very tenets. From colour, texture, to silhouette, the latest offerings from the Australian-born brand emphasised the relaxed lifestyles of modern-day homeowners. On display: organic shapes and textures, solid weaves and tweed in particular, all brought to the forefront of design in a spectacular, Art-Deco-inspired fashion.

Of the year’s release, King Living’s head of sales and merchandising Natalia Culina says: “This year’s fair celebrated multi-functionality and comfort, embracing warm and inviting environments furnished with polished and intricate accessories. The exhibits collectively merged a designer’s eye for detail with welcoming, organic shapes.”

Fluid shapes and beautiful curves also came together in the lineup, evident in comfortably-enveloping armchairs. In addition, the design aesthetic also played homage to Oriental culture with beautifully tapering legs and seats that are closer to the ground. In terms of colour, the year’s choices lean heavily on warmer shades, with rust browns, orange reds, olive greens, teals, and dusty yellows headlining the lineup alongside inky blues.

King Living also launched a new lighting range: Solifiore by Charles Wilson. In a nod to Australia, each lamp is a nod to the unique local flora.
