Homes in the 1930’s may have taken a step away from the glitz and glamour of 1920’s art deco, but mirrors remain a popular decoration choice. The choice of colours and patterns has shifted from black, gold, and red to pastel mint green and orange, and geometric wallpaper gives way to solid options complemented by patterned carpets.

These are a few home decorations that made up a home in the 1930’s:

1. Mirrors weren’t restricted to the vanity areas. The art deco movement saw bold use of mirrors in the living room. In the 1930's they were often placed above a cosy fireplace. Homes back then sported either a gold framed mirror or a clean, frameless one. The iconic sunburst mirror became popular in households in the 1940’s.
