Fresh, modern, minimalist, and yet chic, the two storey home in question stands at 2,600 sqf, a part of Gamuda Land developments in Rawang, Selangor.
Open storage spaces again help to make the home look bigger, while a simple, modern dining set helps to separate both living and cooking spaces; the walls are bedecked with plenty of built-in shelving, allowing for the display of items that Bring You Joy - pun fully intended.
A show unit, the work of which was done by designers of Joy Design, the space nonetheless betrays a keen sense of warmth and one that is ultimately welcoming in a way to easily inspire prospective homeowners for their own renovation projects.
Aptly named 'The Courtyard', the showhome comes complete with three bedrooms, one utility room, four bathrooms, and an airwell cum courtyard in the centre - a feature often found in the traditional homes of our forefathers.
Because the courtyard is immediately and easily accessible, fresh air and natural light are in ample supply, creating the perfect backdrop with which to celebrate a modern, tropical ambience so beloved by homeowners today.
Albeit mostly done up in white, the designers afforded the space a burst of colour by way of sharp viridian fittings and fixtures, from a velvet modular couch in the living area to the cabinets in the open dry kitchen. Textural interest is afforded by way of whitewashed brick, which is further accentuated with the use of dark wood. The resultant look is infinitely chic, but with just a hint of upscale rustic charm.
While the colour options do, indeed, serve to make the home appear more spacious, special care was taken to ensure that the space was visually calming - a most important quality for those looking to unwind at home after a long day. To do this, the designers had to carefully balance out the spaces in the home in all facets, from colour to texture to general spatial planning.
